Life Trust educators adapt to teaching in Covid times

-

Waipa King Country Life Education Trust will be holding the annual general meeting of the trust at 5.30 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the offices of Edmonds Judd, 486 Alexandra Street in Te Awamutu.

After 2020, we thought that 2021 would be a much more routine year for the trust and our educators but, just as it was for the rest of the community, that definitely was not the case.

Once again our educators showed amazing flexibility and resilience in the way that they dealt at very short notice with huge changes to their expected timetables. Not only did they work closely with the schools, teachers and students in our region to deal with the restrictions required in the face of Covid, but they were also called upon to share their processes and methods of adaptation with other Life Education Trusts throughout the country. We are very proud of the way that they have done that and led the way to new methods of delivery of the lessons that we believe are so essential for our young people.

The educators spent many hours working together but remotely, putting together programmes that have been made available to schools to provide resources. These have been relating to our time-honoured programmes dealing with nutrition, social relationships and looking after yourself and also focusing on the additional challenges facing our youth with the isolation and uncertainty resulting from Covid.

Sadly, we have had to postpone the major fundraiser that we have been planning with Anna Mowbray as speaker. At present we are hoping that this will be able to take place in August 2022. We have been encouraged and delighted by the support that we have received from the ticket holders and businesses that were to sponsor the event.

Anyone who would like to see what is involved and who may possibly be interested in supporting the work of the trust is most welcome to attend the AGM on April 6. If you are interested, please contact the secretary, Mandy Rasmussen on 0274 930928 or (07) 8720236 (wk) or by email mandyr@edmonds judd.co.nz.
