Change to fire season

As from 9am Monday, Waikato moved back to an open fire season.

The change covers all areas in the Waikato Fire District, excluding the Wa¯ ipa Peat Zone.

Waikato district manager Daryl Trim says the recent rain was welcomed and has reduced the outdoor fire risk, so you’ll no longer need a permit to light an open-air fire.
