With years of experience working in Waipa¯ finance and business support roles, Kayla Heeringa is putting her skills to use locally, with her new business venture The Office Project. Born and bred in Te Awamutu, Kayla has spent the last 13 years working in a range of finance and business support roles in the Waipa¯ district. She is also the current secretary of the Waipa Networks Trust.

Kayla is a qualified bookkeeper with a New Zealand Diploma in Business under her belt and although already Xero certified, she is also working towards her Diploma in Xero to gain further knowledge to offer clients.

Throughout her career, she has built up a wealth of experience helping clients to manage their finances and keep their office functions running smoothly.

“My previous roles have been very client facing, so I have had lots of opportunity to get to know people’s businesses and basically help them run as efficiently as possible,” she says.

The Office Project combines this experience, with the aim of making life easier for the business owner.

Launching April 2022, it will offer a range of bookkeeping and administration services including Xero support, GST filing and cashflow forecasting, managing client correspondence, office systems and general administration duties.

Described by her clients as a champion for local business, Kayla is known for her ability to get stuck in and problem solve, whatever the situation.

The connection to business stems back as far as Kayla can remember. She has been helping her dad with his Te Awamutu electrical business since she was a teenager, while builder husband Damian Heeringa also owns his own company, Solid Wood Building.

“I’ve worked with so many small businesses over the years, which has given me a true understanding of the challenges business owners face,” she says.

“The Office Project is designed to slot into those gaps, to take the pressure off the business owner. Plus, our strapline is ‘Smarter Business Solutions’ which really sums up what we’re about.”
