Tough battle for champs
The final club championship event on Bowls Te Awamutu’s programme — the Mixed Singles — was played recently.
It produced some well-contested games, especially in the semis and the final.
The final came down to a determined showcase of skills between Les Liddington and Warwick Flintoff.
The lengthy game’s lead changed four times, with both players showing gritty determination to get to the required 21 shots, eventually Warwick made it there first.
Both players have already won other championship titles this season: Warwick in the Men’s Singles and Les in the Men’s Fours.
