Tough start to season for Pirongia B team

It was a tough start to the Pirongia B Division 1B season heading to Tokoroa up against a Southern United team that had 47 players to choose from.

With a scratched together team, Pirongia stuck with SURF for the first 30 minutes but were down 19-0 halftime.

In the second half, Pirongia turned into the wind which was always going to be tough. With SURF rolling their bench on, the Pirongia boys again competed well in phases and were rewarded with a penalty try after pressuring the SURF tryline. A few late scores pushed the score out for SURF to win 39-7.

Many of the As players helped out, showing great club spirit and Player of the day went to Ben Rush.
