Kihikihi rugby club proud of women representa­tives

The 2021 season saw the men’s team return to Kihikihi Rugby and Sports Club while the star-studded women’s side won the Gallagher Cup championsh­ip against Hamilton Marist.

The side produced six Waikato Farah Palmer Cup champions in Emma-lee Heta, Chyna Hohepa, Carla Hohepa, Kiriana Nolan, Rina Paraone and Merania Paraone.

Carla was selected in the Black Ferns squad while Chyna, Carla and Merania all played for the Chiefs Manawa in the inaugural season of Super Rugby Aupiki earlier this year.

Round one of the 2022 Gallagher Women’s Premiershi­p kicked off on

April 9 with Kihikihi defeating Fraser Tech 32-0 while this weekend they head to Tokoroa to take on Southern United women.

Among the players to watch this year will be Charlize Waters and Emma Spiers who showed their skill in the opening game.

The Waikato Club Rugby Division 2 men’s side kick off their campaign against Matangi Hillcrest.
