Mayday, M’aidez

-

Mayday mayday are you there? A txt I know so well,

The stories that I used to read Are easy to re-tell.

When I was young I used to love To read of bygone days

The stories of our war heroes And what they used to say.

A sinking ship, a plane in strife Would send this message out, I need help, and urgently Is what the message spelt.

M’aidez is a term in French, Meaning ‘help is needed’

I’m in the poo and need a hand, I hope my call is heeded.

Now it’s May in ‘22

This message strikes a chord, About the things now going on Both here and far abroad.

There seems to be just lots of stuff That happens every day

To give some folks the reason to, “M’aidez, Help me” say.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed,

By all these troubling things. The war and virus, the petrol price, And other happenings.

But let me say that if we all Just look for opportunities, To show our love to fellow man Here in our own communities,

Doing what we all can do, To help others each day. And are truly answering Their very own “m’aidez”.
