Bowls contests have great results

Vagg Cup for senior men won by Bowls Te Awamutu

The annual Waipa¯ and Raglan districts lawn bowls tournament­s were played on April 23. The Vagg Cup for senior men’s teams was played at Cambridge and was won overwhelmi­ngly by Bowls Te Awamutu with 7.5 wins out of eight games. The Hastie Trophy for senior women’s teams was played at O¯ torohanga, where the Bowls Te

Awamutu team came in third on a countback.

The Myers Trophy for mixed junior

teams was played at Te Awamutu, and the home team was a creditable runner-up in an exciting final game.

The day’s total competitio­n over the three venues was organised by Wendy and Dan Weinberg of the

Piopio Bowling Club, and this was much appreciate­d by the teams entered.
