Silly sisters and a hairbrained plot

How To Marry Harry

I thought this must be something about marrying Prince Harry. No — it's a lot more obscure.

The protagonist wants her daughter to marry musician Harry Styles, formerly of boy band One Direction. That's the rather ridiculous premise, and the story is about these two Wellington sisters who decide to go to the UK with a cardboard cutout of the daughter in a red bikini to offer her to Harry. So far, so silly fan fiction written by adults who should know better. (The authors are also sisters.) One sister in the book is widowed, the other wants to relive her uneventful youth and brighten up a dull adulthood, and that's what leads them off on this hairbrained adventure. It's pretty silly and pointless, laboured in places and entirely predictable. While these two write well together, something with a bit more substance could be tackled. —
