Addictive escape capers on the table

Themed escapes at Get Out! Escape Rooms take about 30 minutes

- Jesse Wood

Te Awamutu’s Get Out! Escape Rooms have introduced table top escapes with Triple T nights, Table Top Time, now on Wednesday nights for the month of August.

Table top escapes are themed escapes to solve at a table and take about 30 minutes for two people to complete.

Get Out! Escape Rooms owner Sandra-Lee Bryant says they’re essentially a smaller version of an escape room, with the usual clues to solve and codes to crack.

There are 12 table top escapes, and many more coming. Check out the themes on their website, getoutescaperooms.nz/who-canplay-1.

“I’m just making more and more all the time. I’ve got heaps of little containers with a theme,” says Sandra-Lee.

“I want to take them places, they’re going to be mobile — that’s the next step.

“I’ll approach businesses and if they want something for team building, I can bring them to them.”

The table top escapes have had good online reviews from those who have experienced them.

“Solving puzzles within a small space on a table top is incredibly satisfying, and an idea that we have yet to see anywhere else in New Zealand,” wrote Zoe Liddle.

“Not only that but the quality of the puzzles and environment made for an addictively engaging experience that will keep us coming back for more with family and friends.”

Dana Genefaas also said the table tops are a great concept that she will be returning to in the future.

“I had a blast making my brain work outside the box to figure out how to get in the box!

“If you’ve thought about doing an escape room but haven’t got around to it, what are you waiting for? ”

Head along with a friend for Table Top Time from 6pm-8pm and complete as many table top escapes as you can in two hours for $30 each.

Sandra-Lee says groups of friends or workmates can also book the table tops to have for themselves from 6pm-8pm, Monday-Thursdays — gather 12-18 people to do as many table tops as you want.

High school after-school drop-ins will also be available for students soon with a cheaper rate.

Get Out! Escape Rooms are at 55 Alexandra St, Te Awamutu.
