After round five of the 2022 Bunnings Warehouse NPC, Waikato are still the only team not to lose a match.

Each week the games seem to get harder to predict with a continuous change in Picksters table positions.

Picksters Nic & Me now top the Picksters competition, leading by two points.

McDonald’s Te Awamutu sit in second place after another great round of picks while Power Chill and PGG Wrightson are third equal.

HTSL Diesel Mechanical and NZME round off the Picksters.

There is still time to grab your spot in the competition, if you and/or your business are interested in advertising and taking part weekly, email marissa.morris@nzme.co.nz. Let’s go Waikato! Waikato continue to remain undefeated in Bunnings NPC after beating Taranaki 21-6 at Yarrow Stadium in New Plymouth during round five.

Daniel Waite got the home team on the scoreboard early with a successful penalty shot at goal in the third minute.

But it would be Waikato who scored the first try of the match, after Samoan international D’Angelo Leuila regathered his own chip kick to score.

Damian McKenzie added the extras and Waikato led 7-3 after 15 minutes.

Waite then made it a onepoint game when he was again successful with another penalty shot at goal right on halftime as Waikato led 7-6 at the break.

In the second half, a successful McKenzie penalty pushed Waikato’s advantage out to four points, eight minutes in.

Waite missed his third penalty

attempt before McKenzie added a further two to the Waikato score as they led 16-6 after 71 minutes.

Winger Mosese Dawai scored an intercept try with five to play, which sealed the win for Waikato, making sure there would be no Taranaki comeback.

Waikato reclaimed the Ryan Wheeler Memorial Trophy with a 21-6 victory and now top the odds pool with a game in hand.

Tomorrow night will see Waikato take on Auckland at FMG Stadium Waikato followed by another home match on Wednesday night against the Southland Stags.
