Daffodil Day Rally raises cancer cash

Vintage car lovers flock to event, writes Dean Taylor

Waikato Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club was one of 36 VCC branches throughout New Zealand to organise a Daffodil Day Rally to fundraise for essential support for locals living with cancer.

The rally took place at the end of last month, with Waikato participants leaving from various towns and concluding at the WVVCCC clubrooms in Cambridge.

Te Awamutu’s cruise started in Arawata St and took a scenic route through Te Awamutu’s CBD to Pirongia, back via Roto-o-rangi and through the Cambridge CBD to join with other cruises for lunch and a car show.

By the time we arrived at the club HQ parking was limited to the driveway or outside the venue.

The car show was full of variety and interest, and club members

were on hand to man the food stalls, high tea cafe, daffodil sales and help people in the parts shed or library.

A great turnout meant Waikato Veteran, Vintage and Classic Car Club raised over $4000 for the Cancer Society.
