Mountain missions keep rescue chopper crew busy
Over Labour Weekend, the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was involved in two rescues from Mt Pirongia.
On Saturday morning awoman in her 50s was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment after she suffered injuries after falling while hiking.
On Sunday morning at 10am, the chopper was dispatched to Sainsbury Road Mountain Bike Park to airlift a teenage boy who had suffered spinal injuries after being involved in a mountain bike accident.
He was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.
