West’s NZ titles nothing short of amazing: Coach

-

Trainstation’s Callan West continue his amazing run at the WFF New Zealand Nationals, adding his third overall title and winning Mr NZ Sportsmodel.

“For him to come out on top after five contests and win the NZ title in his first year is nothing short of amazing and would only equal a handful of legendary bodybuilders in the country who have done the same thing,” says coach Mike Smith.

“I can’t speak highly enough of Callan.”

Lynette Du Plessis in her fourth competition of the year winning third overall and the title of Mrs NZ sportsmodel in a great line-up was equally impressive after listening to judges’ feedback from every show and changing her look every time to bring her best and most complete look of the year.

“Lynette has an amazing physique and is very driven and determined with a great work ethic so to make the No 1 spot in her first year is remarkable but it does question whether she will now move up the ranks to the more muscled figure division next year and really give that a run. Amazing result,” says Mike.

Rounding out the three competitors who had a total of 14 comps to their name this season was bikini athlete Justine Miller who once again turned up the heat bringing her best after an amazing preparation. She came in second, as her physique is now also pushing the figure look, giving her many opportunities for next year.

She still has one more show this year as she has been selected to represent NZ at the worlds in Bali in November.

Mike says he is proud of Justine and her commitment. Nikita Howell, in her second comp for the year, won open sportsmodel with an amazing polished routine and great stage presence.

Lloyd Rangitaawa once again proved too good for the masters men’s bodybuilding, winning the title with his trademark leanness.

Kim McKenzie, part of Trainstation via Auckland and training under Leanne Simays, was the talk of the show.

After a few years in the sport, she really came into her own at the Te Awamutu contest to win her figure division.

“The changes [she] and Leanne have made to her condition and muscle mass have really catapulted [her] to the elite ranks in my eyes,” says Mike.

Next, Mike and Justine join the 15-strong New Zealand team, with Mike in an official capacity.

The team would like to thank their official tanner and sponsor Trish from Delish Tans Te Awamutu as well as Committed AF apparel.
