Dodd leads Hinds to victory
Kaipaki cricket legend Natalie “Doddy” Dodd hit the ground running on Saturday with an unbeaten 32 notout and a victory as captain of the Central Hinds in their first one-day match of the 2022/2023 season.
Just a few days shy of her 30th birthday, Dodd led the Hinds to a sixwicket victory at New Plymouth’s Pukekura Park in a reduced 20-over match.
A brilliant run-out throw from Hannah Rowe to dismiss dangerous Katie Perkins was a match highlight.
Jess Watkin’s 3-13, Dodd’s 32 and Rowe’s 30 not-out brought it home with three overs to spare.
Sunday’s round two match was abandoned with no play after heavy rain, so the Hinds took away six competition points from the weekend. The Hinds’ next match is this Saturday in Dunedin, with Dodd at the helm once again.
Dodd’s one-day career stats are incredible, with 4666 List A runs, 10 centuries, 25 half-tons, 22 wickets, and an average of almost 40, plus a superb wicketkeeping record.
