Elton John says goodbye in style

Chance to win CD marking diamond anniversary

-

Fun fact: Sir Elton John started out in his first band — Bluesology — in 1962. Fitting, therefore that we are offering up the aptly named Diamonds, a stunning doubleCDcontaining a raft of classic Elton John tracks to celebrate his 60th (Diamond) anniversary in the music business!

We’ve got two copies to give away and while serving up 34 of his greatest hits — Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock, Sad Songs Say So Much, Bennie And The Jets, Philadelphia Freedom, I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues, Someone Saved My Life Tonight and Candle In The Wind to name but a few, it will take you on the musical journey of a lifetime and is the ideal precursor to his upcoming shows where audiences will experience a rare glimpse into Elton’s life, and the deeply personal meaning behind some of his greatest hits, via mesmerising, neverbefore-seen images and videos displayed throughout the show from his incredible career.

Complete with brand new stage production, and tour wardrobe designed by Italian fashion house Gucci, Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road global tour is intimate and personal, while also spectacular and daring.

Each song felt so important. Each moment seemed so significant. And the crowd hung on every word, spoken or sung. It wasn’t just a concert, but rather a chance for these fans to express their thanks to a performer whose music has played such a huge part in the soundtracks of their lives. — Mercury News, California

Sir Elton was recently crowned by Billboard as the most successful performing male solo artist of all time. Elton will deliver his famed songbook to spellbound audiences on his very last tour, playing across a mammoth run across Australasia, adding many extra shows this second time around, to satisfy the overwhelming demand.

Beginning in Pennsylvania, US, in September 2018, and despite numerous setbacks Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road global tour has been hailed as one of his most “energetic, dazzlingly-original and joyful celebrations”.

Elton’s legendary catalogue, including beloved songs Your Song, Daniel, Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, The Bitch Is Back, I’m Still Standing, Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and more, are showcased in a musical masterpiece that is a “reflective and stunning tribute to a great artist’s career” ( NME), also celebrating his 50-plus year collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin — one of the great songwriting partnerships of all time.

This will indeed be the concert of a lifetime by arguably the world’s most enigmatic and quintessential entertainer.

Sir Elton was earlier quoted as saying, “I’m ecstatic and humbled to continue to play for audiences across the globe. I plan to bring to my final tour the passion and creativity that has entertained my fans for decades . . . It’s the most produced and fantastic show I’ve ever done. I want to go out with a bang ... ”

Now, after delays and rescheduling caused by personal illness and a Covid pandemic, we are only a few sleeps away from two very special nights in Auckland.

The ‘ Sold Out” signs aren’t far away from being posted on the Saturday night event and Friday isn’t that far behind it . . . How could you want to be anywhere else?
