Lost in Transit will be great performance at theatre
With Junior Talos drama group about to stage its latest production Lost in Transit in October, it is the perfect time to reflect on the volunteers who selflessly donate their experience, time and skills to assist our youth.
In particular, the Junior Talos team salutes Coral Taylor who has been one of Te Awamutu’s most bankable and successful directors. This life member has been the backbone of Talos and the Woolshed Theatre since the 1970s.
Taylor has shown a deep appreciation of a wide variety of drama and musical theatre genres and continues to pass on her vast depth of knowledge, talents and skills to our Junior Talos children so that they can bring stories to life on stage.
She loves working with the children in her capacity as a drama tutor and is especially noted for adding those special touches that make a good performance into something rather special.
Roz Davies is one of the team working with the junior thespians.
“Having worked with Coral on Fiddler on the Roof I appreciate how she brought in an expert to explain about Russian Jewish customs to the cast so that we could portray the characters and understand their plight,” she said.
“It is this attention to detail that has set Coral apart as a great tutor and director. It is inspiring to see her work with the next generation of young performers as they learn stagecraft skills.”
Junior Talos, the local youth drama group, is led by Donna Higham and assisted by a great team of Coral Taylor, Anne Falconer, Hilary Nobes, Roz Davies, Jaime Bayley, Ethan Omundsen and youth leaders Penny Rice and Sophie Ford.
The latest musical production Lost in Transit runs over two weekends, opening with a 1.30pm matinee on Sunday, October 8 and continuing on Saturday, October 14 with a 1.30pm matinee and 6.45pm evening performance, and closiong on Sunday, October 15 with a 1.30pm matinee.
