Race meetings sure to entertain

New Zealand Saloon Champs set to be highlight of speedway season

-

McDonald’s Kihikihi Speedway has been running since 1954 which makes this the 69th year of speedway action in the Waipā District.

It is great to be heading into a new race season. We are all looking forward to better weather this year. Last season was certainly a challenge with so many rain-offs. Now with this all behind us we are looking forward to an action-packed racing season.

This coming season promises to be full of action.

Our opening meeting with the Waipā Home of Champions Fireworks Spectacular will see a full line up of classes with Stockcars, Saloons, Super Saloons, Sprintcars, Midgets, TQ Midgets and Ministocks. We welcome back the Three Quarter Midget class to the club as a registered class at Kihikihi Speedway with some top drivers joining our club this season.

We have a total of 10 race meetings lined up this season which will make for some great entertainment. This season we are renaming our local championships. They were called King Country Championships & it was felt this did not support the area we operate in. Going forward you will see all our local championships for all classes renamed as the Waipā Championships.

We will be hosting the New Zealand Saloon Championship this season on Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28, 2024.

Over these two days you will see the best saloon drivers from all over New Zealand compete to try and win the 1NZ naming rights for this class.

We have some very good drivers registered at the Kihikihi Club this season, so expect to see some of them on the final podium of this event.

This coming season we have contracted the following classes: Superstocks, Stockcars, Super Saloons, Saloons, Sprintcars, Midgets, Sidecars, Ministocks and TQ Midgets. With this wide variety of classes, they are sure to entertain with big fields expected.

In the high horsepower classes of the Superstocks, Super Saloons Sprintcars, Saloons, Midgets and TQ Midgets, we will see some very fast competitive racing.

Stockcars are our biggest registered class at Kihikihi Speedway, never shy to use their front bumpers when needed.

There will be idecars showing the incredible skills needed to get these bikes around the track and our junior class of Ministocks which offer some great racing with these kids training to be future champions.

If you want some great entertainment, value for money, then head to Kihikihi Speedway where you can relax on the grass bank to be entertained by some great racing with a mix of the different classes we race.

Go to our Facebook page or the website www.kihikihispeedway.co. nz to get the latest updates on what classes are racing at the meetings. Sometimes we do have to make changes especially when wet weather interrupts the race meetings. We hope to see you all at our race meetings this season. You will not be disappointed.
