Theatre offers two plays in one night

One-act plays will captivate audiences — a comedy and a tale from Mark Twain

-

Get ready to be entertained at Te Awamutu Little Theatre with a splendid season of two captivating one-act plays. The first play is The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg, a gripping tale by Mark Twain which takes place in the town of Hadleyburg in 1898.

The story revolves around a bag of gold that sets off a frenzy of interest and excitement, but quickly turns into a terrible hoax that uncovers the truth about each person.

With its melodramatic twists and turns, this play is perfect for anyone who loves a meaty tale to sink their teeth into.

The second play is A Wee Bit a’ Blarney, a charming comedy that originated in Ireland and has found its way to our shores.

The story follows Cormac, who has in his possession a wee chip off the

Blarney Stone, and Paddy, who is lucky enough to be the recipient of its magical powers.

But beware! The wee chip also has the ability to put people right if they happen to abuse its power.

Both plays are directed by Jane Wilson, who promises an evening of interest and entertainment for all who attend. Four members of the cast appear in both plays, and as Jane says, “They have had a lot of lines to learn and characters to take on board, but they are all very talented and have done a great job.”

The season opens on Thursday, October 19 and runs until Sunday, October 29. Performances are at 7pm, and there are Sunday afternoon matinees at 3.30pm. Tickets are available for $25 or $20 for seniors and students (plus fees) from the Te Awamutu i-Site and online from iTicket. Enter ‘two one-act plays’ in the search bar.
