Mad Caddies heading to Mt Maunganui

Triple treat prize from The Mad Caddies and The WBC

-

Kiwi ska punks rejoice! Acclaimed Fat Wreck Chords ska punk champions Mad Caddies are heading back to New Zealand to celebrate their 28th Anniversary later this month.

Originally due in 2020 to celebrate 25 years in the business, they were slightly delayed by that worldwide pandemic thing. But they’ve emerged even more energised and ready to have the ska/ punk party of the year!

Even better news is we are giving you the chance to win a CD copy of their latest release Punk Rocksteady as the ideal precursor to what will be one mother of a show — especially as joining them will be the recently reformed and equally reinvigorated and refreshed The WBC.

And guess what? We’re making this a double whammy by including a copy of their full-length album, Hi-Fidelity Offbeat and for good measure a cool WBC sticker that reads in part Havoc On The Dancefloor Since 1998!

We’ve got two of these triple treat packs to give away.

The Caddies Punk Rocksteady, is an album of captivating covers, meticulously crafted under the guiding hand of the renowned Fat Mike from the legendary NOFX. Presenting cherished classics with a fresh, invigorating twist that will leave you craving for more.

Look out for what we rate the best ever cover of a Green Day song in She – to see that live, is in itself worth the price of a ticket – everything else is

a bonus.

Let’s not forget Bracket’s 2RAK005, Bad Religion’s Sorrow and Lagwagon’s Alien8 to name but a few of its 12 tracks, all given that inimitable Mad Caddies makeover.

They all sit comfortably with the bands earlier body of work which includes such awesome tracks as Road Rash, Drinking for 11, Lay Your Head Down, Backyard, Leavin’, Villains, Shoot Out The Lights, Mary Melody and Monkeys through to the more recent Beautiful Bed.

The Mad Caddies' diverse musical influences draw from a wide spectrum of genres, and even includes a sea shanty in Weird Beard.

Reunited after a 15 year absence The WBC’s unique blend of ska, reggae, and rock makes them an ideal fit to support The Mad Caddies and fans can expect the same passion, energy, and infectious grooves that made the band a beloved crowd favourite all those years ago.

The WBC’s Hi-Fidelity Offbeat is a real ripper and contains a diverse range of songs among its thirteen stellar tracks. From the cruisy marley-ish Port Royal with its mellow chill-out feel through to the catchy, upbeat rockier feel of Conman, Another Night, So Serious and Uncle Benny, to the racy feel of Step Up — which has had its auctioneer speed vocals compared to artists as diverse as The Red Hot Chili Peppers and their song Give It Away, to the legendary star of yesteryear Mr Leroy Van Dyke and his song, actually called The Auctioneer. High praise indeed to be compared to these luminaries.

Prepare to have your musical senses ignited. This extraordinary event promises to be a celebration of the artistry that has shaped the very fabric of ska punk history.

Who knows what experiences will be had, what memories will be made?

There’s only one way to find out. You know what to do!
