Foo Fighters coming to a stadium near you

Second chance to win Foo Fighters tickets

-

The relationship the Foo Fighters have with their fans is definitely a symbiotic one. They record a song or an album and the fans make it a hit or a success.

We had such a great response to our earlier competition we’ve decided to extend it and give you another chance to enter to win a double pass to see the Foo’s at GO Media Stadium in Auckland in January.

So many of you remembered the various comments about ‘the loudest show ever’, ‘loudest show of the tour’, the earth-shaking 2011 Western Springs show triggering the equipment at the GeoNet earthquake monitoring station.

The 2018 show being played in torrential rain that inspired one fan to write in “we might have been physically soaked but there was no way it was ever going to dampen our spirits!”

And of course, drummer Taylor Hawkins, in an ABBA singlet taking over the microphone and belting out an awesome version of Queen’s Under Pressure.

And many commented on Taylor’s act of kindness to a young drummer, as well as being rapt to hear of Dave’s awesome gesture in helping launch Teen Cancer America in 2011.

The Foos are back for three action packed nights in 2024 and they are touring on the back of their celebrated ‘comeback’ album — the aptly named

But Here We Are.

Rapturously received by fans and critics alike it contains five singles – Rescued, Under You, Show Me How, The Teacher and The Glass, many of which have regularly been blasted out to eager fans at recent shows.

So what else can we expect to hear on these upcoming earsplitting, ground shaking nights?

There’s a wealth of depth to their catalogue and no one can know for sure, however, songs such as Everlong, Monkey Wrench, My Hero, This Is A Call, Learn To Fly, Times Like These All My Life and The Pretender are all hits and fan favourites that concert goers are champing at the bit to hear.

As a nod of respect to Taylor the Foos have been belting out Aurora, Taylors favourite song.

So cool! So as our nod of respect to Taylor Hawkins and on the back of one very staunch Foo’s fan saying Taylor wearing an ABBA singlet gave him the confidence to openly say to some hard nose rock friends that he too was an ABBA fan, we’d like to slightly change the words to an ABBA classic and welcome Dave, Nate, Pat, Chris, Rami and newcomer Josh back to New Zealand:

So we say — Thank you for the music, the songs you’re singing, Thanks for all the joy they're bringing.

Who can live without it? We ask in all honesty. What would life be? Without a song or a dance, what are we?

So we say thank you for the music and for giving it to we.

See you at the show.
