Howard heading here

The anticipated return of comic Russell Howard

-

Here’s a great New Years resolution that’ll be easy to stick to: buy a ticket to one of the most anticipated comedy shows of 2024. We speak of course of the impending return of that most rousing raconteur of rib-tickling humour, the inimitable Mr Russell Howard.

As we reel from one global crisis to the next, Russell Howard is set to put the world to rights in his own uniquely hilarious way.

And he just loves coming to our fair shores.

On his previous world tour, he went the extra step for his Kiwi fans.

He sought and obtained special permission from the New Zealand government, becoming the first comedian from the Northern Hemisphere to perform in our country since the global lockdown.

How cool is that?

To the uninitiated Howard also loves playing the “murrrrr game”.

That involves saying something that sounds dodgy but in reality, is perfectly normal and acceptable, then following the comment with ‘ murrrrr’.

A classic example is contained in a clip which from ten years ago which also shows Howard as a caring, giving human being – Howard was contacted by a 14-year-old lad with terminal cancer, who asked him to attend his funeral, which was to be a fancy-dress affair organised by the lad himself.

The lad, who had a wicked sense of humour, was choosing the costumes each mourner was to wear, including Howard’s.

In what can only be described as a miracle, only days out from when he was due to pass, the lad started improving and ultimately went into remission.

Howard was so taken by the lad’s sense of humour and courage that he included him as a guest on his Wonderbox DVD and had him wear the costume he had chosen for Howard to wear at his funeral. Hilariously funny comedy that tells the story of a miraculous recovery and gets a standing ovation.

Russell Howard leads the way in more ways than one!

Even better, we’re giving you the chance to win a double pass to his upcoming Hamilton show to witness live the instantly compelling and infinitely appealing impish humour that is the magic of Russell Howard.

Here are some of the comments contained in recent reviews:

In 2021, what does gratitude sound like? Having witnessed it first hand, I'd say it's the sound of a 2000-seat auditorium lit up with laughter…Howard is one of the world's biggest comedy stars. His flow is punchy and unstoppable. —

Maggie Wicks, The New Zealand Herald

“Russell Howard is at the top of his game, his elegantly crafted observational stand-up using cunningly spun callbacks and physical comedy to flirt with controversy, domesticity, politics, sex, and Calippo ice lollies. —

Stephen Armstrong, The Sunday Times

Russell Howard, a brilliant comedian and an awesome human being at so many levels. Experience the experience!
