Te Awamutu St John Youth is kicking off for 2024 on Wednesday 7th February @ 6.00pm, 31 Palmer Street, Te Awamutu For returning members come along and check in…. For anyone who has curious youth, keen to learn new skills, and become our leaders of the future this is your opportunit­y to learn more about the St John Youth programme and all it has to offer. The St John Youth Programme has a Mission to “Deliver a vibrant leadership and first aid programme, focussed on developmen­t and successes of young people which enhances health and wellbeing in our community.” The Youth Programme is delivered in two parts. The Penguin Programme is divided into two age groups, the Kororā Group for children in school years 0 to 3, and the Hoiho Group for children in school years 4 to 6.

Cadets is for young people in school years 7 through 13. Cadets is divided into two age groups, the blue and gold groups. Each level of the programme has milestone awards with specific requiremen­ts:

Cadets are also given a chance to take part in competitio­ns and camps to learn new skills and try their skills out in real-life scenarios. Gold level cadets are also given an opportunit­y to pursue Leadership Developmen­t Training and earn promotion through the cadet ranks. If this sounds like something your youth would enjoy, please come along on the 7th of February. The Division meets on Wednesday evenings throughout the school term/year – you are welcome to visit on any night if the 7th does not work for you.
