Kiwi icons coming to a town near you
Legendary rock band Dragon is thrilled to announce a special tour of New Zealand to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The tour promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans and music enthusiasts alike.
Dragon is as much a part of New Zealand as the Buzzy Bee, No. 8 fence wire and L&P.
Winner of the Legacy Award at the 2011 Vodafone NZ Music Awards, they are Kiwi icons and have carved a notch in our musical history with such great hits as Young Years, Rain, Still In Love With You, Are You Old Enough, April Sun In Cuba,
Celebration and Speak No Evil.
These, along with a further 10 tracks, all delivered in that inimitable Dragon style, comprise our featured CD this week — Dragon: The Very Best Of — which encompasses all that is good about Dragon and contains gems that fans just can’t wait to see performed live.
Fan favourites such as Dreams Of Ordinary Men, cowritten by the legendary Todd Rundgren, Get That Jive and the aptly titled Magic are nestled in amongst their massive hits and have been rapturously received by punters during recent gigs.
It’s the ideal precursor to their much-anticipated return to stages the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand

lead singer, look out at the show for a rocked-up version of his big hit Show No Mercy and perhaps Age Of Reason which was co-written by Dragon’s Todd Hunter and was a No. 1 hit single for John Farnham. Todd Hunter, Dragon's bassist and one of the original members, expressed his enthusiasm for the tour, stating: New Zealand holds a special place in our hearts, and celebrating our 50th anniversary with our fans in this beautiful country is an incredible honour. We can't wait to perform for you all once again.
Over the last five decades, the band's iconic music has continued to resonate with fans old and new.
Special guests, the 2011 NZ Music Hall Of Fame inductees, Hello Sailor, will join Dragon on the tour.
Cut from the same cloth as Dragon, Hello Sailor were and still are a phenomenal live band. Look out for their not to be missed set which is sure to include their well-known numbers Gutter Black, Blue Lady, Lyin’ In The Sand, New Tattoo and perhaps even Graham Brazier’s solo hit Billy Bold as a nod to their fallen comrade and former bandmate.
Hello Sailor rocked the country one pub at a time. With Jimmy Taylor, Paul Woolright and original members Harry Lyon and Rick Ball at the helm, Hello Sailor are the perfect pairing for what will be a tour for the ages and full of nostalgia.
