The Year of the Dragon

Celebrate 50th anniversay with double CD

-

Wow! Dragon has some amazing fans out there and they have certainly let us know, judging by some of the comments in our two previous competitions.

We’ve been reminded that in traditional Chinese culture, this is indeed the Year Of The Dragon. Fortuitous indeed then, that Dragon are celebrating their 50th Anniversary the same year.

We’ve also been reminded by some that they were fortunate enough to see Dragon, together with Hello Sailor and Hammond Gamble when they celebrated their 40th anniversary across the country.

To coincide with that 40th anniversary tour a very special limited 2CD was released to celebrate that landmark occasion. The Dragon Years - 40th Anniversary Collection 2CD features a 40-track full career retrospective covering all the original hits with legendary kiwi front man Marc Hunter on disc one and collective works since reforming in 2006 with the current lineup featuring kiwi vocalist Mark Williams on the second disc.

We’re beyond rapt to be able to take you back in time and offer you the chance to win a copy of that album to mark this current auspicious occasion, as they chalk up another 10 years and perform to eagerly awaiting audiences the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand as part of their much anticipated 50th Anniversary Tour celebrations!

Hits and fan favourites abound on this double CD. Greats such as Young Years, Rain, Still In Love With You, Are

You Old Enough, April Sun In Cuba, Celebration and Speak No Evil sit comfortably alongside Get That Jive, Magic, O Zambezi, Don’t I Look Like Jim and Dreams Of Ordinary Men to name but a few.

With Mark Williams now lead singer, look out at the show for a rocked-up version of his big hit Show No Mercy and perhaps Age Of Reason which was co-written by Dragon’s Todd Hunter and was a No. 1 hit single for John Farnham.

Todd Hunter, Dragon's bassist and one of the original members, expressed his enthusiasm for the tour, stating, New Zealand holds a special place in our hearts, and celebrating our 50th anniversary with our fans in this beautiful country is an incredible honour. We can't wait to perform for you all once again.

Over the last five decades, the band's iconic music has continued to resonate with fans old and new.

Special guests Hello Sailor, the 2011 New Zealand Music Hall Of Fame inductees will join Dragon on the tour.

Cut from the same cloth as Dragon, Hello Sailor were and still are a phenomenal live band. Look out for their not to be missed set which is sure to include their well-known numbers in Gutter Black, Blue Lady, Lyin’ In The Sand, New Tattoo and perhaps even Graham Brazier’s solo hit Billy Bold, as a nod to their fallen comrade and former bandmate.

Hello Sailor rocked the country one pub at a time, and are the perfect pairing for what will be a tour for the ages and full of nostalgia.

Our featured album is the ideal precursor to what will indeed be a night to remember and a show you will never forget. Be there!
