50th year of Dragon

Win essential Dragon as tour precursor

-

Wow! The planets have truly aligned for this one — 2024 is, in traditional Chinese culture, the Year Of The Dragon. Coincidentally it just happens to be the year that iconic rock band Dragon are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.

They’ll be playing shows the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand and we have just the thing to prepare you for the experiences about to unfold.

Aptly named Dragon: The Essential, our featured CD contains 29 tracks that encapsulate all that is good about Dragon and show the diverse range of their allencompassing repertoire — great tracks such as Sunshine, Since You Changed Your Mind, Konkaroo, Running Free and Same Old Blues — deep cuts and fan favourites, all nestled among some of the more wellknown such as April Sun In Cuba, Are You Old Enough, Still In Love With You, Oh Zambesi and This Time.

It is an eclectic, charismatic, funky, catchy, broody, moody, rocky, bluesy – all inimitably Dragon-ey — collection.

With Mark Williams now lead singer, look out at the show for a rocked-up version of his big hit Show No Mercy and perhaps Age Of Reason which was co-written by Dragon’s Todd Hunter and was a No 1 hit single for John Farnham.

Hunter, Dragon's bassist

and one of the original members, expressed his enthusiasm for the tour, stating: New Zealand holds a special place in our hearts, and celebrating our 50th anniversary with our fans in this beautiful country is an incredible honour. We can't wait to perform for you all once again.

Over the last five decades, the band's iconic music has continued to resonate with fans old and new.

Special guests Hello Sailor, the 2011 NZ Music Hall Of Fame inductees, will join Dragon on the tour.

Cut from the same cloth, Hello Sailor was, and still is, a phenomenal live band. Look out for their not to be missed set which is sure to include their well-known numbers Gutter Black, Blue Lady, Lyin’ In The Sand, New Tattoo and perhaps even Graham Brazier’s solo hit Billy Bold as a nod to their fallen comrade and former bandmate.

Hello Sailor rocked the country one pub at a time, and are the perfect pairing for what will be a tour for the ages and full of nostalgia.

Our featured album is the ideal precursor to what will indeed be a night to remember. How could you want to be anywhere else!
