Festival to showcase local gardens

-

Eight Te Puke gardens will feature on the Bay of Plenty Garden & Art Festival.

Tickets are on sale and festival director Marc Anderson says the tickets and the festival directory, lanyard and map are now being distributed.

People still wishing to buy festival trail tickets can do so via the festival website, Ticketek or Te Puke Florist. Other outlets are: Palmers Bethlehem (Silver Sponsors), De´cor (Bronze Sponsors), Baycourt, Macandmor Art Space, Pacifica Home and Garden Centre and Katikati Arts Junction.

The packs will also include a Bloom in the Bay programme, outlining all that’s scheduled to happen during the festival dates at the Tauranga Historic Village hub.

Marc says Bloom in the Bay will be like a mini-festival, including guest speakers, live music, food, a Good George and Mills Reef beer and wine garden, exhibitions, workshops and art, sculpture and flora art displays. There will also be eight concept gardens to view. It will be open for all ages and will run from November 15-18, 9am until 9.30pm. For information visit www.gardenandartfestival.co.nz

“Not everyone opts to go on the garden and art trail and this is a nice way of still having a slice of the festival action. Of course, activities have been timed to also suit those who have been on the trail during the day,” Marc says.

The Bloom in the Bay flier can also be picked up outlets throughout the district including Baycourt, Creative BOP, Macandmor gallery in Tauranga’s Goddard’s Centre.

Another recent highlight in the lead-up to the festival was the release of the Long Lunch tickets this month. The honourable Maggie Barry will be the guest speaker at the November 19 lunch at Mills Reef. Visit A limited number of tickets to the Long Lunch are available and are selling fast.

Maggie Barry has had a long career in broadcasting, including gardening shows, is the National MP for the North Shore, and former Minister of Conservation for art, culture and heritage. She has been awarded an NZ Order of Merit for services to broadcasting and has had a rose named after her.
