Grandparents’ Day with flowers, crafts

-

Pongakawa School held its annual grandparents’ day recently, combining it with a flower and craft show that replaced the usual ag day.

Pongakawa Hall was ablaze with colour from the art work and floral creations put together by the students.

There was a competition for pet diaries this year, which encouraged students with farm animals or domestic pets to look after their animals and find out information about the pets’ breed, behaviour and day-to-day care needs, as well as incorporating creativity by including photographs, poems and stories.

Grandparents and wha¯ nau were entertained by performances of kapa haka, singing and dancing and were also shown through classrooms, given special handmade gifts and a shared picnic and time together.

The PTA held a cake stall and there was a successful sausage sizzle.
