Bowlers make their mark at Mount

Papaomas bowled Mount Maunganui Inanga out for just 68, with Josh Jacob earning a place on the WBOPCA weekly honours board with six wickets at a cost of 33 runs. Tony Jackson powered his team home to a 10-wicket victory with an unbeaten 54 runs.

Defending B Grade champions Pa¯ pa¯ moa Wanderers got their title defence back on track when they won a hard-fought battle against Grasshoppe­rs. Hoppers batted first and reached 132 for the loss of eight wickets. The Pa¯ pa¯ moa side had to fight to the wire before getting home with two wickets to spare. Logan Cullum led the way with 58 not out.

Te Puke’s B Graders made it three from three for local teams when they bowled Mount Maunganui out for 149 then got home with four wickets in hand.

Both local Reserve Grade sides tasted defeat, with Mount Maunganui defeating Te Puke and Tauranga Boys’ College notching their first win of the season in beating Pa¯ pa¯ moa.
