Golf day raises $24,000 for youth

- Friday Arvo Craft Group

Pa¯pa¯moa Rotary Club's 2021 Golf Tournament has raised $24,000 for youth development. The tournament was held at Mount Maunganui Golf Club in April and the final amount raised was confirmed last week.

Funds will be targeted at youth development and used to support Pa¯ pa¯ moa's rapidly growing community and tackle some of the issues arising from it.

The three main beneficiaries will be the Graeme Dingle Foundation, RYDA Road Safety Education and Pa¯pa¯moa Surf Club, which will each get $5000.

The Graeme Dingle Foundation's Kiwi Can programme teaches kids values and resilience. The foundation's Bay of Plenty manager, Dan Allen Gordon, says the contribution will benefit a further 720 children in Pa¯pa¯moa this year through its programmes.

RYDA educates our youth on road safety. Jerry Cowper, who received the contribution for RYDA, says the funds will help an extra 600 students in the Mount and Pa¯pa¯moa attend their road safety course next year.
