IGOLF FOOTBALL

llness struck Te Puke Utd Football Club at the weekend with only the men's team seeing action. After being the pacesetters for much of the WAIBOP Championship season, Te Puke have slipped in recent weeks and a loss last Saturday means they are now in fifth place.

Te Puke had hoped to regain form, but struggled against an organised Matamata Swifts side.

Matamata imposed themselves early in the game, pressurising the visitors, but good defensive play at the back and by goalkeeper Ben Day kept the hosts out.

A couple of counter attacks failed to produce a Te Puke goal.

As the first half went on, the game evened out, with both teams unable to find the net before half time.
