Fifty hardy souls make a splash for surf club

-

Pukehina Surf Rescue recently held its Polar Plunge in the not too warm waters near its headquarters. Fifty hardy souls braved the conditions.

This was the third year the event has taken place to raise money for the new surf club building.

Those taking part were treated to baking, hot soup and warm drinks.

The best dressed winners were Andy Mcdowell, Keitha Tucker and Cody Hardwick. The Sea Slappers took out the best dressed team prize.

Jayden Harris raised $505 by staying in the water for 16 minutes, almost half of the $1200 total raised.
