a¯pa¯moa Kings finished their two weekend Classic Builders Reserve T20 assignment­s on Saturday with two more victories, to top the leader board with four wins from four games.

First up, they limited Aquinas College to 108 for the loss of five wickets before cruising to an eight-wicket victory. Aman Mahal top scored for the victors with 57 not out.

In round four action, the Pa¯pa¯moa bowlers had Baaj Sports on the back foot, in restrictin­g them to 108/9.

A half-century from Lokesh Gahlan and 40 not out by Ajay Kumar, took the Kings to a five-wicket victory.

Pa¯pa¯moa Kings sit in the box seat with just one round remaining before the title playoffs are decided. However, standing in their way as top qualifier on their side of the draw, are 2022 Reserve Grade Champions Cadets. The two rivals meet in midweek action on Thursday next week, with the Tauranga Domain-based team needing a big victory over the Kings to progress to the title decider on Saturday, November 19.

The second Pa¯pa¯moa Reserve Grade team suffered two losses in the weekend T20 action. First up, they posted 117 for six against Tauranga Boys College, with the students getting home with five wickets to spare. Eight-five runs was never going to be enough in their clash with Mount Maunganui, who cantered to victory, for the loss of a solitary wicket.

Te Puke Blue posted their first win of the Classic Builders Senior Open T20, with a 36-run victory over Tauranga Boys College. The Te Puke representa­tives set their opponents a solid target in reaching 145/5. Bikram Sandhu top scored with 40no.
