Take boat to have breakfast with gulls

-

Maketu¯ Onga¯toro ¯ Wetland Society’s popular Breakfast with the Gulls event is on again this weekend.

The annual event is a rare opportunity to take a free guided boat trip to the bird colony at Maketu¯ Spit while emjoying a cooked breakfast. It’s a chance to see the breeding colony of red-billed gulls, plus the critically endangered black-billed gulls as well as New Zealand dotterel and other native shore birds.

This is a family-friendly event hosted by Maketu¯ O¯nga¯toro Wetland Society, in collaboration with Maketu¯ Rotary and Maketu¯

Surf Lifesaving Club. Breakfasts and trips will start at 8am on Sunday with the last trip at 9.30am. There is no charge, but a koha would be appreciated. It will be followed by the MOWS AGM. For more information and to RSVP email Janie@maketuwetlands.org.nz
