Highway closed one-way for work

Te Puke Highway between Poplar Lane and Welcome Bay Rd will be closed in one direction from Monday.

The closure is to allow remedial works and resurfacing and a portion of the second coat of seal. The start of these works is dependent on a window of fine weather, so may have a delayed start date.

The work requires a lane closure from 5am on Monday and is expected to take two weeks, although this is also weather dependent.

The road closure is required due to a narrow section in the road and shoulder, which cannot accommodate the work in a safe way while keeping two lanes of traffic open.

While the lane closure is in place, traffic heading towards Te Puke from Tauranga/pa¯pa¯moa will be diverted along the Tara Rd, Parton Rd, Bell Rd route.

VMS boards will be displayed advising of the upcoming diversion dates.

Traffic travelling from Te Puke towards Tauranga will continue as normal, with speed restrictions in place.
