Weather delays work on highway

-

A forecast for wet weather means scheduled work on the Te Puke Highway has been delayed.

Due to start on November 14, the work will now begin on November 21, which is when the road will be closed in one direction between Welcome Bay and Bell roads.

The works will include remedial works and resurfacing and a portion of the second coat of seal. The start of these works is dependent on a window of fine weather, so may have a delayed start date.

This work will require a lane closure from 5am next Monday and is expected to take two weeks (weather dependent). The road closure is required due to a narrow section in the road and shoulder, which cannot accommodate the work to be completed safely while keeping two lanes of traffic open.

While the lane closure is in place, traffic heading towards Te Puke from Tauranga/pa¯pa¯moa will be diverted along the Tara Road, Parton Road, Bell Road route.

Traffic travelling from Te Puke towards Tauranga will continue as normal, with speed restrictions in place.
