The season of giving is for everyone

Across all cultures and faiths, the holiday season is a time of togetherness.

New Zealand in 2022 is a diverse blend of cultures, ethnicities and religious beliefs, a melting pot of people that, as a nation, we are all the richer for.

So, in the festive season, it seems only right that, as well as recognising the religious significance of the occasion for those of Christian faith, we open our hearts to the wider community too.

A family time

Radius Care, one of the country’s most respected care organisations, places great emphasis upon Christmas as a time for togetherness, regardless of religious affiliation.

Many of Radius Care’s wonderful care staff come from overseas and are of a range of different faiths, but that doesn’t stop them from making the most of the season for their residents and each other.

So, when the lead up to Christmas is in full swing, happy families and staff members are everywhere at Radius Care’s many care homes throughout the length and breadth of New Zealand.

Families are welcome to come and spend time with their older loved ones and make sure that they feel the spirit of the season just as much as anyone. The joy that younger family members bring to the occasion lifts the spirits of everyone, their peals of laughter ringing around the halls.

Always something new

Laurel Winwood, Facility Manager at Radius Care’s Taupaki Gables home in West Auckland, is a passionate believer in keeping residents fully occupied through all seasons.

“No-one could every say that we leave our residents to make their own fun. There’s always something on the go to keep our people engaged and active.”

This occurs all through the year, but it’s particularly the case around the festive season.

Activities are thoroughly planned to spread the festive cheer, including holiday movie and ice cream events, lighting and decorations, pamper sessions, live music, Christmas markets, carol singalongs and so much more. Every home is full of the tastes, sights and sounds of the season.

“Our staff play such an important role in making the festivities special for everyone,” said Laurel Winwood. “They take great pleasure in seeing the happiness that their efforts bring to everyone.”

All the trimmings

Food is such a central part of the holiday festivities and Radius Care residents enjoy the best of it all.

Roast turkey, chicken, traditional cured ham and veges are prepared by Radius Care’s team of professional cooks and kitchen staff. Ever-popular treats like pavlova, trifle and ice cream are also part of the occasion.

Everyone has a great time, sharing not only the delicious food but each other’s company in a supportive, fun-filled atmosphere. It really is the happiest time of the year.

Merry christmas to all

Across 23 care homes and from over 3000 staff and residents, Radius Care would like to wish you and yours all the compliments of the season. May your festive time be relaxing, shared and enjoyable, and may 2023 bring you all you would wish yourself.
