Longer run for art society exhibition
Te Puke Art Society members are giving the public a greater opportunity to see their work. The society’s annual exhibition begins on Friday next week.
In a break with the tradition of a weekend-long event, the society this year will be opening its doors for 10 days to give people more of an opportunity to see the art and craft on display.
There will be lots of new art on the walls created by the members of the society during the past year.
There will be a range of styles and subject matter with media including oils, watercolours and acrylics.
The Quilting Group at Te Puke Art Society will be putting their amazing quilts, sewing, knitting and crafts into the exhibition.
“These very clever ladies have been working hard all year on these beautiful projects,” says president Marie Brown.
There will also be painted rocks for sale.
Eftpos will be available.
With the annual People’s Choice contest, exhibition visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite piece of art or craftwork.
The creator of the piece with the most votes will not only get a certificate, but a great boost to their confidence.
There will be raffles, drawn at the end of the exhibition.
The raffle is the society’s annual fundraiser, and the money goes towards the maintenance of its home, the historic Constable’s Gallery in
Commerce Lane. There are a number of projects on the historic building that need to be funded.
The exhibition is being supported by Western Bay of Plenty’s Creative Communities scheme.
The exhibition starts on November 3 and ends on November 12. Opening times are 9am to 4pm.
Constable’s Gallery is a former police station, courthouse and jail.
