Just two results in Williams Cup

Intermitte­nt showers throughout the Bay of Plenty on Saturday saw just two Williams Cup games produce results, albeit by way of the Duckworth Lewis method of deciding rain-affected matches.

Greerton took home the win points on offer against near neighbours Tauranga Boys’ College, at Nicholson Field. Tauranga Boys’ were removed for 131, with Reuben Swanepoel top-scoring with 42 runs.

Tom Macrury grabbed five wickets at a cost of 36 runs.

Past Bay of Plenty wicketkeep­er Alex Oakley led Greerton home with 54 runs.

Another former Bay keeper Tim Clarke was 39 not out in his side’s eight-wicket win.

Mount Maunganui won the toss and elected to bat against Pa¯pa¯moa at the Alice Johnson Oval. Long-serving Mount premier player Matt Golding opened his team’s innings and posted an unbeaten 72.

Daniel Coster, making his Mount premier debut, reached 40 before being removed, in his team’s total of 157/7. Pa¯ pa¯ moa were 69/4 when rain again stopped play with the Mount fielders effecting three run-outs.

Mount Maunganui won the encounter courtesy of the Duckworth Lewis formula.

Cadets were 61/2, when rain intervened against Central Indians in Rotorua. There was even less play in Taupo¯ with the Lake Taupo¯ v Geyser City game also abandoned.

Craigs Tauranga Boys’ College 131 (Reuben Swanepoel 42; Tom Macrury 5/36) lost to Eves Realty Greerton 129/2 (Alex Oakley 54, Tim Clarke 39no) by way of Duckworth Lewis formula.

Bond & Co Mount Maunganui 157/7 (Matt Golding 72no, Daniel Coster 40; Sam Wilson 3/31) defeated Pa¯pa¯moa by way of DL formula
