Paula Bennett free-ranges during stint as acting PM

With Bill English in Australia, Acting Prime Minister Paula Bennett had to field questions on everything from abortion law to whether she bought caged or free-range eggs. She confessed she bought a ‘‘bit of both’’ but preferred free-range. However, she might favour the cheaper caged option when she is on a serious baking mission: ‘‘I’m quite known for my bacon and egg pie ... so sometimes you can’t make one, you have to make about six of them and that’s a lot of eggs so I might buy caged for that.’’
