The story about eggs sold as free-range, when they were from caged birds, sparked a rash of dad jokes – you know the type; puns on scrambled, addled, plucked and anything beginning with ‘‘ex’’. But Labour leader Andrew Little delivered the most excruciati­ng of all - admittedly having been cruelly set up by a Dominion Post reporter. After admitting to having a fairly relaxed attitude on whether he chooses free-range or caged eggs on his supermarke­t forays, he confirmed that made him eggnostic.
