Pensioner faces extradition

-

Poland plans to seek the extradition of a 98-year-old American man on suspicion of committing crimes against humanity over the World War II deaths of 44 Polish villagers. Michael Karkoc, who lives in Minnesota, is suspected of ordering the killings in 1944 in eastern Poland when he was a commander in the Nazi SS-led Ukrainian Self Defence Legion. Karkoc’s family has repeatedly denied that he was involved in war crimes, and says he is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
