World No 1 Lydia Ko needs to be more intense on the golf course, says her new coach, Gary Gilchrist. The South African, who took over as Ko’s coach earlier this year, said the 19-year-old needed to ditch her friendly image to have more success. ‘‘It’s good to play towards your personality, but she is the world No 1 player and a little bit more intensity on the course would really help her keep her energy level and her focus,’’ he said. Ko has shown signs of the form that took her to No 1 this season with top 10s in her last two tournaments. However, it is now eight months since she won a tournament.
