Station robbed at gunpoint
Police are appealing for witnesses after a Hastings service station was robbed at gunpoint. An attendant at the Gull station on Omahu Rd was left shaken but unharmed after being held up by a man brandishing a firearm about 1.30am yesterday. The armed man fled with cash and tobacco in an orange plastic bag. He was seen getting into a waiting car that headed east on Omahu Rd, towards Hawke’s Bay Hospital. The offender was described by police as a ‘‘slim and pale-skinned Maori’’, between 175cm and 178cm tall, who was wearing dark clothing.
