Pokemon ‘incited hatred’
A Russian blogger who played Pokemon Go in a cathedral has been found guilty of inciting religious hatred. A judge in Yekaterinburg, 1500 kilometres east of Moscow, ruled that Ruslan Sokolovsky, 22, had insulted the Russian Orthodox Church and its leader, Patriarch Kirill. He received a 31⁄2-year suspended jail sentence. Sokolovsky was charged after posting a video on YouTube of himself playing the popular game in Yekaterinburg’s Church on the Blood, which was built on the ruins of the house where Tsar Nicholas II and his family were murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1918.
