Buscomb makes NZ team

-

Waikato runner Camille Buscomb has been added to the Athletics New Zealand team for the 2017 London World Championships.

Buscomb’s selection comes after her stunning run of 31mins 45.02secs in a 10,000m race in Stanford, California, on Sunday.

That time was 30 seconds under the London world champs qualifying mark and a personal best by 41 seconds for the 26-year-old full-time athlete from Cambridge. It is also under the nomination standard for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Buscomb won silver over 5000m at the 2015 World University Games but narrowly missed qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 5000m.

Buscomb joins clubmate Zane Robertson, who has been selected in the men’s 10,000m, along with shot putters Tom Walsh and Jacko Gill, pole vaulter Eliza McCartney, sprinter Joseph Millar and race walker Quentin Rew named in April.
