Art show breaks record

Artworks worth a record $1.2 million were sold at the 2017 NZ Art Show over Queen’s Birthday weekend. A total of 1750 works were sold at the show, held at the TSB Bank Arena on Wellington’s waterfront, and the takings were the highest in the show’s 14-year history. Many of the 250 artist were exhibiting for the first time, including Wellington printmaker Nicola Jackson: ‘‘Selling my first piece at the Gala evening reinforced my decision to pursue an art career.’’
