Evolution ‘science’
Bob Brockie (When evolutionary theory met radical Islam, July 3) thinks it is a ‘‘vain hope’’ that ‘‘if church- and mosque-goers became aware of modern biological understanding, they would embrace Darwin’s theory’’.
He goes on to say that holy writ blinds fundamentalists to science.
The ‘‘science’’ he refers to is, in this case, a theory for which evolutionists have failed to produce any convincing and emphatic evidence that the universe, the earth, and all they contain are the product of blind chance acting with random processes on material that has come from an unknown source.
Modern biological understanding actually reveals processes and designs that are staggering in their complexity, function and scope. Many informed people, scientists among them, are convinced that such evidence overwhelmingly points to a designer of supreme intellect and power.
Why would people who believe that the cosmos is designed abandon that conviction for a proposition like evolutionary theory, that flies in the face of the evidence around us? GERALD ARTHUR
