Issue still exists

The community of the eastern suburbs should beware. Sarah Free (New cycleway ideas unveiled, Oct 24) says that consultation will prevent a debacle similar to the Island Bay Cycleway.

There has been intense and expensive consultation over the last 15 months in Island Bay but the problem remains.

The result of the final voting for the favourite option was ignored. Even worse, the Wellington City Council solution is to throw more money after bad. It has chosen to spend about $3 million more doing once again what they want and not what was voted for.

The problem in Island Bay is still there. It has not been solved. It has not gone away. IRENE FAGAN Island Bay
