Long-term leases

According to Sir Peter Jackson, Wellington City Council is reluctant to give any assurance on his company’s 25-year lease of the proposed movie museum (Movie museum a box office flop?, Dec 6).

How curious. The council never seems reluctant to grant 125-year leases over its prime waterfront land to Willis Bond. The same Willis Bond that has the contract to develop the museum without tenders being sought. DAVID LEE Mt Victoria
